    Help LT 77 DEAD

I need some help please. My new ute has a very dead LT77, It's a 94 disco, I do have a good LT77 from a rangie. If I fit this box and lt230 will the gear shift be in the correct position for the disco. There looks like there is a differance with the housing for the shift.

    Can this be done.

There are different selector housings for LT77's depending on age and vehicle it came from.
From what you say, I don't think it will be a direct swap but you may be able to swap selector housing. Someone more knowledgeable might be able to help.

I do know that in 1986 they introduced the 'short shift' rangie so any earlier definitely won't fit.

You probably would be better using you original transfer case also.

    Thanks John,

Took a drive over to MR today, spoke to their gearbox guy."knows his stuff" Anyway he said that there are serveral variations as you said, The early long shift that I have will not except the extention housing from a LT77S that is a later 80s rangie and early disco. there is a differant main shaft and extention housing. In the LT77s there is 2 differant variations of that as well. so the answer to myself is no this box will not fit, and can't be interchanged on the extention housing.

Shame because it is like new inside and the transfer as well. Anyone looking for a like new early rangie LT77 with LT230 I have one now for sale or swap for LT77S OR R380.
