    LT95 Stuck without drive.

Howdy all,I need some help here,as totally outside my realm.
Reverse has always been slightly stiff to select and deselect as if gates aren’t lined up.
New LOF clutch seemed to solve this issue installed last few weeks.

Cold start, and as usual moved through first/second prior to selecting reverse.
Went into gate but no reverse drive.slight graunch noise…
Moved out and checked forward gears ok.
Reselected reverse, still no drive and lever seized in that position.

Removed top plate, springs all present, although the yellow paint band seemed to be on 4th.
ball bearings all there,as are the roll pins, some play but no rotation on reverse shaft.

This is me,from now on it’s witchcraft and voodoo,so would appreciate some help.
Video is initially in high range, selected neutral showing all gears rotating.
    Really appreciate some guidance here

    Fallen off!

Further to the first post, delving light down low spotted this baby lying on its side.
Actually cheered me up as at least I think I’ve found the problem

All I can think of is the grub screw on the idler shaft has come loose, allowing the shaft to slide back and the cog has fallen off?
Next question? If I remove the side cover, will I be able to move the shaft back enough to reinstate the cog,or is it more involved requiring pulling the transfer case apart?
Once again, total novice here, and lost re terminology so painting by numbers

I can't see the reverse gear lockout spring in the vid. Have you taken it off to film?

I only ask coz in the original LT 95 box in my POS it was 'missing' and made reverse a bit hard to select.

It had, in fact, broken and was in the bottom of the box in the oil drain tube hiding behind the filter.

Yes,quite right, forgot to mention I had removed the spring.
Found a broken roll pin in the bottom of the sump,so far, about to take that side inspection plate off shortly.

    Where’s my shaft?

Removed the side plate and greeted by a fairly beaten up reverse idle gear.

    All is not lost,,
Had an awesome chat with Bearman ,who’s set me up with how to sort this.
The guy is a total legend

Will post details on how I go tomorrow

It's still in the hole. I can see it in the pic. Just push it back in through the gear and line up the bolt hole. The gear is a bit beaten up but still usable.

    Fixed

Morning spent playing with my shaft
    875E4972-0378-4425-B4F6-29916FB72A1D.jpg
Tapped it back across, fitted the idler gear.
Interference fit but with some oil it moves and rotates allowing the holes for the
Grub screw to align, bit of trial and error here, but using a vivid marker to approximate
Where on the shaft it lines up to hole helped.

Screwdriver in hole to fine tune ,then tested bolt didn’t cross thread.
Removed, cleaned and dried threads prior to loctite on bolt threads.

the magnetic plug on the side inspection plate was covered in metal, but after discussion with bearman, this is totally normal, quote”That’s how they are”, no large particles just super fine micro metal dust.

Nice to be reassured of that
While in there, all the moving parts looked in really good condition,no visible wear and it runs quiet.
The finishing touch is a bearman special.
Brass 30mm Welch plug(repco)covering the shaft hole, this stops oil movement to the transfer case if
the shaft was floating and worn over time.

All that remains to do is await a gasket kit and button it back up.
Top plate over the selectors back on,the springs are surprisingly strong and hold the plate under tension while you hope one hadn’t missed its hole.Used grease in holes and on springs to seat seemed to help.

None of this would have been possible without guidance and reassurance from bearman.
Learnt a lot,and quietly pleased it was able to be rectified in situ,,phew
