I am about 90% certain that the Australian military 2.25 is identical to the contemporary civilian one.
Hi People,
Anyone know if the military 7 hole water pump, part No RTC6328 with 542218 gasket, uses the same bearing etc. as standard Series pumps? I’m replacing mine with one from my NOS stash, and want to rebuild the one I’m taking off…
Also any tips for pressing original apart. Impeller is cast and has two holes tapped in it. Are they to attach a puller that screws against centre shaft? Then after removal the bearing pushes out the “front”?
Also unsure if Australian military used it? The British 2 1/4 motor for 24v has a different timing case to mount the generator and and different water pump to suit…
Cheers,
Dave

The commonly available repair kit is listed for a lightweight as well as 2.25, only the gasket is different.
Can also be fitted to the 6-cyl pump after the impeller is modified.
I made some tooling up to press the 6-cyl pump apart & back together, supported the housing while pressing out the bearing.

Right!
Got the old one off, put in the NOS one I have had in the car for over 25 years…
The old one has a retainer bolt in the applicable hole over the bearing. The new old stock has the threaded hole but no bolt in it, nor can it be fitted as no hole in the bearing.
Assuming that when I buy a new bearing for the old one, I need not utilise the retainer bolt anymore?
As an aside, the old pump inside is mint-looking. Interesting as I thought it may show corrosion after more than 40 years! Seal failure must have let coolant through it, bearing has just a fraction of movement.
