Thread: RR TD6 potentiometer

Yesterday I took out my extra temp gauge I had in my beast,mostly because I now have the iid tool.

Its the one thats recommended by people on here for the D1 and D2 disco,s that have a known problem with there temp gauges.

After putting everything back together again,upon start up I got a heap of yellow/red lights on the dash,as I was getting short on time,
I put the car into the shed and would look at it today.

Today.... started the beast up,plugged in iid tool and was met again with the yellow/red warning lights plus low range wouldnt work.
After going through the list(it was quite extensive) Decide to clear the transmission and engine codes to see what would happen.
Eventually got most of the codes cleared and slowly set off for a bit of a drive.After about 5 mins driving I got all codes cleared except one for heater/cooler.
Tried to change into low but it still didnt want to do it. The transfer section said that I was in LOW_STOP but I knew that I was in high. Tried it again a bit further down the road,but it wouldnt do it.Anyway I set off for a drive and I came back home and as I was waiting for the shed door to open I thought I,d give it one more try.
It went into LOW yippee. Drove forward backward 3-4 times selecting high/low to make sure that it was engaging each time.
I connected iid back up to see what codes came up and 5223 :noise on actuator signal: came up.

Have reguarly used low range so am wondering if the potentiometer is a bit fubbared. Think it was changed when Rhys did his magic on the gearbox when that went way back when(think 7 odd years ago).

Any hints tricks suggestions all welcome

Re the transfer case pot, read my thread from yesterday Trans Failsafe Program - it could be a different problem but if not, maybe merge the threads.

The pot can be removed and opened without removing the transfer case motor.
