GVM upgrades, local or landrover approved?

I am looking into a GVM upgrade for my P38. First of all, I have never heard of one but I know the rear axle can handle more. So the first question is: did this ever exist as an option for the p38? Second, I contacted the local institution responsible for everything cars and the _only_ option I have locally is to have landrover sign of on the GVM upgrade ie that the car can handle it.

I have been under the impression that all the guys I see on the tubes do this (like DWM and the likes) simply engineer it locally and get it done, nothing about nissan, toyota, landrover etc being involved. IF a gvm upgrade for the P38 ever existed and IF landrover oz has signed of on it, I would love to hear about that since I might be able to use that paper work so if anyone has something like this

    Thanks!

Do a YouTube search for Auto Expert GVM Upgrades. John cadogen is an automotive engineer.

He doesn’t like GVM upgrades and the video explains why.

There is no way LR will get involved.
Our states also have different rules when it comes to GVM upgrades.

Someone like DWM are the ones to talk to in Qld,but i doubt they would be interested, there are just to many rules and liabilities for a one off upgrade on an old vehicle, and a type of vehicle they wouldn’t be familiar with.

There are also engineers that do sign off upgrades, but I don’t know any.

Cadogen,I gave up on him years ago after watching some of his clips involving LR’s.🤣

Done probably, there is nothing wrong with an upgrade, there are literally thousands of vehicles running around that are done, with no issues.

IF you are going to get it engineered, get a Nationally recognised VASS. Wish I had of done this with my rangie.

You may not like him or his presentation but he knows his stuff. He likes LR vehicles (he used to own a Defender and he's liked every Rangie he's ever driven) but doesn't like the way JLR treats its customers.

    @P38arover

I know mate and agree but it is really hard to keep the P38 under GVM and I am REALLY trying. I have gone from 18mm (ply)wood for the interior to 9mm which is barely enough I think, I also chose a lighter wood and went for alu profiles to connect the stuff instead of wood. I also went to 2 sets of cutlery for the two of us, both titanium, alu pots and pans and the list goes on and on, I am really pushing down every gram I can find but as it now stand, when I am full-full on everything I will still go over.

The reason I asked was that if landrover would have ever given of a piece of paper I could try to use it with my local government. I could try oz but my car is a LHD so I can never get it imported and engineered so there is not much use. I guess I will just have to accept that on rare occasions I might be overweight for a short period of time... That's life

As you can see I am somewhat frustrated but then again, if it were easy, everyone would do it!

Regarding Cadogan, he's a bit like ASPW in my opinion; takes a bit of getting used to I like his humor at time though and he seems knowledgeable.

    Cheers,
    -P

Are you talking about your rig or your body?

I know, for me, the last has been a fact for half a decade since I passed "the magical age"...
