Can any one help here or do i have to seek a greater source of info :eek:

(1) person i work with reckons it could be the switch cause they work fine on intermitted any ideas on that or others would be most welcome
I'll have to delve into the memory here, as it is a long time since I've done any work on wiper motors and switches, but I think the fact that the wipers self-park OK from intermittent indicates that the motor itself is OK.
It is odds-on that the wiper stalk switch, or connections are at fault. Self-parking wipers are hideously complicated for the home mechanic, ( I can hear all the "sparks" types laughing derisorily!). Basically the motor self-parks, by having a cam-operated switch inside. This is open circuit whenever the wipers are anywhere but parked, and in park position it closes to provide a 12V feed. This goes back to the main wiper switch to the delay relay ECU, which provides power to the motor after you turn the wiper switch off, hence allowing the wipers to move to the park position, and come to rest.
At the wiper switch end, the connection for this is internal in the switch itself, and it seems as if this is the problem. Parking voltage is OK from intermittent, because it is being provided from the ECU. However, when you turn the switch off from Fast/Slow, the 12V feed from the parking switch is not getting to the delay ECU to provide parking power for the wipers, and they are not parking.
I would say from this (rather long-winded) explanation, that it is the wiper switch at fault. The parking switch and delay ECU sound as if they are OK, and power is getting to the motor in Fast/Slow position, and the motor itself seems OK. Check all leads first, particularly if you have been working in the vicinity of the wiper switch wiring, before you spend any money!

my car doesnt have a ecu but i get the drift
ill check the wiper stalk and connections out tomorrow :cool:
The ECU doesn't refer to the main engine one. The control unit for the delay wiping is called an ECU in the Rave manuals. Rather confusing!

For what its worth I have had this problem with another vehicle (not Landrover!) and it turned out to be simply a bad earth.
