Need a front disc brake conversion

I really have to bite the bullet and try for discs on the front of my Forward Control.2B
I have a VH40 booster front and rear with the wide drums and twin leading shoes but it is still not enough.
The locally made Jaunt kit has been around for a few years now so was wondering if anyone has used it?
Are there any other options yet as its a couple of years since someone enquired,?
Has anyone carried on with Cookies kit?

AFAIK the Jaunt kit is made in the UK ,

Yes, I am having discussions with both. Still waiting on a freight quote from Forbyn. They are the only ones that guarantee my 130 rims will fit.
Jaunt have made their own hub casting that incorporates the spacer that D&D uses. This gets around the spacer issue here.
However after all this time they still cant tell me my 130 rim will fit.
One would think that the first thing they would do would be try all Land Rover wheels out for fit.

My Lightweight is due for brake work, rather than renew the drum brakes I'm toying with going discs. The only caveat is they must fit the original rims.
The rears are very straightforward, any number of rotors and calipers can be made to fit
But the front has swivel hub clearance issues.

Whilst I was still an apprentice , thats over 40 years ago , the bloke I was sharing a house with in Clayton (Dave Jones), had a 1971 SWB with a Holden 253 , he had front disc brakes even then. From memory Hilux calipers and holden rotors on it .

    So thats where I'm starting.

I still have my drums as I dont want to go to disco rims either.
Keep us informed as to how you go. I would still like to convert if you find a compatible system.

Still working on it. Ive found a rear Mercedes Sprinter rotor & rear BA Falcon caliper will fit behind an original SWB Series wheel with a straightforward bracket as a rear disc solution. ( edit: Vitara caliper had too much piston area for rear brake)

I can see why Cookey used RX7-RX4 front Calipers but they are neither common nor readily available , and when a set does pop up for sale they are $500 & well used so need reconditioning. So I've ordered a set of Wilwood DS .81" Lug mount calipers ($800) & when arrive will fine tune my rotor short list ( RX7, Tarago or Freelander) . ( Most Wilwood calipers do not have Dust Seals, Engineers require a DS caliper & its a good idea on a Landy in any case)

Jaunt / DDE have a local kit for Series using custom made hubs and bracket to bolt on Defender rotor / caliper , but requires Disco-1 or Wolf rims. I can't use wider rims on my Lightweight without flares, the outside of tyres are right on the edge of bodywork as it is on 5" rims.

I tend to do all this kind of stuff myself at minimal cost using off the shelf calipers and usually modified hubs/ rotors, with custom brackets, Have done a few of these to various vehicles that were never meant to have discs and the Landy front is not going to be an easy one. However I have a simple method of designing caliper brackets using perspex then draw it into CAD for laser cutting or machining so fairly confident I'll get a result.

Here's the perspex method I used on my '49 Dodge and some of my other conversions from drum brakes

Nice work! Gives your local VASS bloke something to get his teeth into other than the usual GVM upgrades.

If, sorry, when you get it sorted would you consider publishing your drawings and parts list?
