What's the general consensus of opinion on change intervals. I go for an oil change every 10K. Do you change both filters at this interval??

Spin on filter @ 7,500kms & 15,000kms... Centrifugal at 15,000km works for me.

Check your manual or Rave CD.

You will notice that the centrifuge filter is meant to be changed at every 20,000 k's and the full flow filter or spin on at 60,000's & 120,000 i.e at every 60,000k's.

So the recommendations suggest that the centrifuge filter collects the most rubbish.

On this theory I change my centrifuge filter at every 10,000k's and change the spin on type at every 20,000k's.

Tomraider...I'd suggest you are doing serious damage to your engine

    but I won't

AFAIK both the spin on and centrifugal filters on the TD5 were developed by Mann Filter (MANN+HUMMEL), who make the filter elements for Land Rover. So why not buy them direct from the manufacturer, without the LR sticker and LR markup.

Gday IsuzuRover, Does Mann do all of the OE filters, or just oil?

    or

How do they compare in quality, filtration etc compared to OE?
    Cheers

Coopers was OEM supplier for Spin On Filter for quite a while.

    Mann does the centrifugal.

Coopers also OEM'ed the Fuel Filter and Air filter.

If tombraider is correct then Mann Filter only do the Centrifuge filter. They will be identical in quality and filtration perfomance to OEM, as they will be identical to OEM, except for marking/packaging.

Mann Filter may have equivalents for the other filters, and if so they would be as good or better than the Cooper/OEM filters.

Also check with Donaldson and Fleetguard to see if they have equivalents, as they will be as good or better than OEM also.
