    oil filters again......Td5

ok.....lets go over the oil filters again.....

im only interested in the Td5 filters.....

what do you use...as in which brand........

have there been any problems with any of the brands......
or any there any brands i should look for......

where do you get your filters from.......and how much do they cost...?

this is for both the centrifugal and the spin on filters on the Td5....

im due for an oil change and was about to drain the oil when i went to get my filters ready......
i only had the cetrifugal filters at home......no normal spin on filters.....
does anyone use ryco......i was tempted to run down to supercrap to see if i could find
    a filter to use......

    all advice greatly appreciated.....

For the centrifugal filter I would use the genuine LR filter. They were only $2 more than an aftermarket type anyway. I am still on my free supply of aftermarket filters after a bulk pack was found to be hitting the top of the housing. These aftermarket filters do not have really clear indication of who made it. It all comes in a box with green diamond's all linked together and a part number #EER 6299. It also has 'Quality Spare Parts EEC Countries' with a 'I' & 'A' or could be 'IA' as the symbol.

As for the spin on I use Ryco and they are about $32 from memory.

    Cheers,
    Lyndon.

    Z614.

I usually buy these from Repco. The store near here does not stock these so I have to source it from another store. Ring and check first to see if in stock & get them in.

As for the quality of Ryco...well they must be the number one preferred aftermarket oil filter. I have not had a problem with them in all the cars I have owned. You must feel that they are safe to use. Imagine the class action if they were found to be faulty.

    Cheers.

I use all OE filters from the local LR parts dept. It takes out the "I'm not really sure" component of protecting the engine.

There was a huge kerfluffell when Ryco filters started being made overseas,, but the warranty remained the same, so in the end,, Australia just seemed to get over it.

Mine have always been cooper. I have used a couple of local suppliers and they all seem to use them. The Centrafuge on looks to be genuine.

    td5 oil filters

I use a replacement Cooper oil filter filter, part No 1035 interchangeable with
Z 418, change every 5000km, these are slightly smaller than the originals but a lot cheaper to buy and easier to fit.

    i prefer cooper to ryco.........
but ryco are more easily available these days....
who stocks cooper......is there much difference in price.....?
if not for the cost of genuine i would be using them as i have been till now....
but i am struggling a bit at the moment and trying to save a few dollars where i can......
hence the reason for this little survey.....

besides.....i think the cost of a genuine filter is a bit of a rort.....from a dealership....

Have a look under "TD5" on Ebay and go to "Landy Spares" store. Prices seem good. Some genuine parts and some aftermarket.

Also Four Wheel Drives (www.landrovers.com.au) has a filter service kit available for around $100. (Landy Spares is a bit cheaper though).
