    Bonnet Stuck!

The release cable for my bonnet has come off again!
This time the bonnet is clossed. Anyone know the quick and easy method of getting the Defender bonnet open without resorting to cutting things.

I need to do a fluid check before leaving for Ace's

pull the inner cable from inside the engine bay somehow, could you reach the cable if you took the grill off?

Grill is off. Cable is totally floadting free and I have also undone the 2 nuts I can reach that hold the lock in place. After lunch I will try and remove the panneling round the radiator.

if you pull the inner cable it should unlock itself. If it does just cut the cable around half a mtere from the lock then strip it slightly. Form a hook from the stripped part and mount it inside your grill. It's not original but it should get you out of trouble.

Thats the problem its the bonnet end that has let go. I am also thinking of trying to undo the bonnet hinges and lift it from that end.

Not If I can also undu the hook catch. Then it should just swivel on the main latch.

count three rungs down on the front grill, put you hand in there and you should find the cable and latch. Use you hands or screw driver to lever the catch across. If you can't get to purchase on the cable.
But whatch out for the rad. Don't want to slip and put the screw driver thought the intercooler or rad.
Good luck. If you need a new one then go for the early 110 /90 type which has no cable just a lever on the front, in the grill
