Our tough dog RTC failed after 12-15 months. Have used Billstein in the past no problem. At the moment I am using an old Rancho front shock from an old comp car using Maxi drive front steering arm mounts. Tell you what it works like a treat. Handles the Isuzu power steer pump with ease!!! and it cost nothing and there is 1 more still on the shelf.

As for overstressing the Powersteering.. I think my rims and tyre combo would stress it more and mines going strong.

the downside with using a standard supension damper is that the valving is totally different compression/extension, whereas a steering damper is 50/50 (most suspension dampers/shock absorbers valving is in the region of 3:1 rebound to bump) and most wont work past a 45* angle from vertical, either.Quote:

As with the valving you only feel the differance when the car is on the hoist and you turn the wheels from lock to lock by hand. And when you think about it your steering spends most of its time travelling within the first 25% of its full travel. Thats the killer of dampeners, lack of full stroke travel.
