Do a search on outer limits, that'll show what various people have done to Defenders.

Yes it can be done. There was one at the Expo with this size on.

The 315s are much wider than Simexes. Issues that come to mind are gearing, speedo, engineering certificate. Under std flares you have sod-all steering lock, & rubbing on trailing arms & spring towers. Increase the offset & you'll need new flares & have some bump steer issues.

Axle, cv & CW&P upgrades to minimise - not eliminate - breakages.

Noy sure if 2" lift is enough, I've got 3". Then you need some form of camber/castor correction & possibly a d/c front shaft.

If a tdi it will no doubt be gutless, even if the gearing is fixed - those big tyres consume more energy to turn. So, engine upgrades are in order.

    And so it goes on..

That's exactly what i run, but i don't like them on the highway (expence and handling)
I have about 2-3" lift, but i pulled off the front flares and replaced with rubber stripping (4+" wide), and run very offset rims to avoid rubbing the control arms. I lifted the tub (I have a 130) an extra 3" as I went for extra long shocks on rear.

Power loss was noticable, but not dire.....10kmph loss up hills. I thought it had killed my economy, but not really so when i recalculated, taking into account that the odometer was under reading by a fair bit.
I have maxi axles, so all good, but i did have a front tailshaft death last week ( maybe/maybe not from lift, was old, and appeared not to have been greased for a while when I bought the ute)

    Cool

Hey boggo I went from 29" tyres to 32" on my rangie and there was a slight power loss. Will probably be a bit more noticable going up 3" on a diesel. My mates defender has 32" tyres as standard, don't know about you. I would think that re-gearing would almost definately be in order not to mention what the others have said. On the other hand if it takes 20 seconds to take off from a standstill at the lights at least you would look cool doing it.

MT 117 in bias ply ? how legal are they, do they have DOT code, JATMA or euro standards on the side wall. Check this.

My 130 had 2" lift with 16x10 big offset rims and 305/70R16 and it rubbed every where and power on country roads was up to #hit. Took them off after the first weekend. Looked really cool though.

315/75R16 is a tyre with 12.5" width. 315mm They are not recomended on 8" rims

Hey Glen, good talking to you today about the p38. Yeh I would have thought that with 35's the power would go on turbo diesel. Talk to you soon I will email you directly my contact details.
