Similar story. I acquired a rusted out trailer for free off facebook and gave it to a mate who refurbished it. When he went to register it they required a receipt. I supplied a receipt for $20 and now it is registered in his name.

Yes it's just a piece of paper that they have to have, nobody will ever check it's legit or that the "person" that signed it actually ever owned the vehicle in question.

In Vic I only had a handwritten receipt on a torn off scrap of paper for my '73 Lightweight, no import papers , was not on govt records , and its previous rego plates belonged to a Red 1954 series1 in QLD , (explains why they painted the LWT red) , still managed to get rego , just had to get engineering compliance and a waiver from dept of infrastructure.
When I got the '52 Power Wagon registered I gave them a photo of a Snowy Hydro scheme Power Wagon with commonwealth plates as "Proof" it has been registered in Australia and an emailed receipt which I could have written myself. I already had an engineering cert though for my mods rather than for compliance.
This is pretty much what I am about to go through soon in registering my 1963 Forward Control project. I know it is ex PMG and have photos of a similar FC in PMG livery, with the same tray modifications for the scaffolding they carried to access the pole top furniture. This is my only available proof of previous Australian registration... And a typed purchase receipt from the guy I bought it off as a complete wreck.Quote:

Do you know if the C plate photo was your actual vehicle? Have you found a database for C plates? I have a 1954 86" that I am 90% sure was a Woomera vehicle, and have even found a found a photo of the same vehicle type, year & colour at Woomera, with visible C plate, but have no way of linking them....
