Correct as far as I know.
But it is my understanding that the wheel bearings are closer together on the shorter stub axles and as a result they have a shorter life.
Rover made it even worse with later rovers when they went to unit bearing hubs.

Ok, i finished putting the new diff in today. I can't believe how quiet it is compared with the old one![]()
I use standard disco 24 spline axles. I also had to use the stub axles and the hub off the disco for it all to work.
