JMac makes them longer than standard so the origional stub axle is ok, but i have been told that because the 24 spline axles out of a disco 1 are a bit shorter than the 10 spline, that i need to us the disco stub axle which is shorter by the same amount.

    Is this correct?
Sorry I thought you were buying with the McNamarra axles.

Correct as far as I know.

But it is my understanding that the wheel bearings are closer together on the shorter stub axles and as a result they have a shorter life.

Rover made it even worse with later rovers when they went to unit bearing hubs.

Ok, i finished putting the new diff in today. I can't believe how quiet it is compared with the old one
I use standard disco 24 spline axles. I also had to use the stub axles and the hub off the disco for it all to work.
    Thanks for the advice.

Now just waiting to try the locker
