I'm going one further....
Cruise Control unit.
You have a TD5 and Autron I'm guessing.
Autron interfaces with the ECU and the Pedal.
Thats going to be your problem right there. try isolating the system back to standard, I'll be surprised if the issue doesnt disappear.
Other thing that has been known to cause issues is Turbo Timers (particularly Boggards)
If not, I'll be in town in a week or 2... We can hook up the RovaCom and take a look - It'll cost you a beer or 2 :D

Yep its the cruise control. Mine did the same thing. Fixed under Autron's warranty.

This was an intermittant fault. Starting off once per month, then about once per week it gradually got so bad it happened about 9 times on the way to work. Sometimes the engine cutout was preceed by a quick loss of power and/or rough running for a couple of seconds.
Had the problem for about 18 months all up but it did go away for about 6 months.
I had one dealer tell me it was the ECU. I declined their offer to relieve me of about $1300 to check that option and changed dealers.
I left it at the new dealer for about 1 week and of course the problem did not appear.
In the end, after much research I got them to change the throttle pedal and sensor assembly. They said that they did measure the senser to be high resistance. Goodie I thought. Picked it up and the engine died again in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel. Back it went for some further checking. In the end it turned out to be spread contacts in the plug going to the pedal assembly. The mechanic tweeked all the contacts and the Disco has been good for about 6 months. I'm happy with the way the fault finding was conducted in the end. They did measure a high resistance but what we didn't know at the time was that it was due to poor contacts in the plug. Unfortunatly I had directed them to change the pedal assembly so I had to wear the cost. I got a spare now...
I also had oil in the ECU harness, but as stated in a post above, the throttle uses a different plug on the ECU.

If I was on cruise control, the engine would continue running fine, however the "Check Engine" light would illuminate and if I disengaged the cruise control the engine would drop back to idle and have to be restarted.
