110 Defender Ute conversion has started.......

Well after siting in a single Cab D110 Ute i now know i want an extended cab.
Last weekend i started getting prices and parts to convert my Fender (Camila) to a Ute.
I got the lower rear section of a Defender Single cab. This might be the same as a Series 3, but it was at the right price, so i bought it. Im using it as a template to move the cab back 6".

I spoke to a mate who will make me an Extended roof, but the catch is i have to work out it i want to use a Defender roof to cut up or a County.
The county has Galv gutters with alloy roof, where as the Fender is all alloy and its not as easy to put a new section in.

For now i'm going to get a Defender single cab roof and then work out what i want to do.

I was going for a Defender Hard top back, but they are to rare and the cost is too high. Unless Grey landy sells me his Hardtop 110 for $4500.
So i'm looking at a Series 3 back.

To make the single cab longer i'm going to cut out the rear firewall and move it back 6" then the rear roof/glass section can bolt to that.

I'm lucky as my mate is keen to help me out in converting and extending bits.

So slowly i'll get the bits i need to convert her. Then do it 1 hit.

But for now i'm selling off some stuff i wont be able to use.

    Roofrack is for sale.
Doors and rear wagon section is for sale.
Roof will be for sale i think, dont know yet. Might keep it, incase i turn the ute into a hard top.

I never relised how quick you can pull a defender apart.
Last weekend we started stripping a D110 ute. in 3 hours 3 of us had it down to the firewall and floor. The rest was stripped.

I'll keep you informed of the progress as i go.
