Good tyre prices in Melb ?

Hi Guys my Michelin XPC ( orginals on car) have finally given up after 90,000 km.

I need some places that give good prices in outer Eastern subs of Melbourne.
    ( Ferntree Gully /Dandenong area. )

Looking at staying with 235/70/16 in Michelins, in which case I only need 4 new as spare is good, or or going slightly bigger 245/75 in Coopers or BFG AT, in which case i need 5 new. . I have a second set of rims with 245/75 BFG muds for more serious stuff. Ah decisions...decisions...

    Tks

I can't give any tips about prices (other than ring everyone and haggle) but from my own experience the Michelins are a brilliant tyre - I've been using them on and off road recently and they've coped with a lot more than I expected.

Hi Dave, are you talking about the XPC's the original equipment? Can't remember the name was wondering how the other michelins went off road. What ever their called think their more of a road tyre.

Hi ak, I was just putting in a vote for the XPC's for the on-road and lots-of-other-duties tyres because they've performed really well for me. Not suggesting they are an off-road tyre - he's got the BFG muds on the other rims for that.

I agree the XPC's are a top all round tyre. Only problem is I think they are very expensive.

Hi ak i got a set of mickey thompson Baja MTX's for my disco, they are an AT tyres, on the same conditions they out performed One Iota's BFG AT's they are relatively quite on road, great off road and are of Light Truck construction so very tough and better still they were only $220 as opposed to $290 for the BFG's. A great tyre cant recommend them enough. Matt

I was at Bob Jane the other day for something else and quizzed him on 235/70/16 for my D1. Not a big range but had cheapies from 169 thru to 300.
Point was he said he'd haggle. Coz he's a franchise, you may be able to haggle over your way as well. Also mentioned interst free and trade etc....
