    RTV??

It’s hard to keep up to date. I’m replacing my failed diff centre. I would be inclined to use something like Permatex Ultra Black. Is that a good choice? Or is that outdated?

not a bad choice, however dowsil 732 is the same product and is usually cheaper.

so long as you clean both faces well, almost any automotive grade sealant will do the job for the diff to housing seal. Its only when you start getting to engine operating temps, fuels, and exhaust you need to start looking at the more exotic sealants.

IME of the home enthusiast level suppliers (repco, supercheap, bunnings,) Repco carry or can supply the widest range of sealants and tend to have better product knowledge of the goos. Bursons can get you more but usually dont carry the same range in the smaller packages.
