    Torque converter query

    Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this one, I'm fitting a BMW M57 engine and auto transmission into a Mitsubishi Pajero mk1 long wheel base, the BMW transmission is a ZF 6hp26 and I'm hoping to fit a larger torque converter from another BMW ZF 6hp26 box, so basically using a larger TC from a 2005 730d e65 in a 525d e60 box,..both boxes are 6hp26, both have a ZFS LU_ _ _ _ sticker,

the e65 TC is a bigger unit but fits fine, and seeing the engine and box is going into a 2.5 ton 4x4 I need plenty of torque,..

I know there are options for the ZF 4HP22/24 since they are installed in a couple of land rovers. Should work maybe for the 6 speed as well? I guess your best bet is to try and ask this question on a beamer forum?

    Cheers,

I would just get the original rebuilt with heavy duty clutches, there are upgrades that use 6R80 parts in both the TC and transmission if you want it bullet proof.
Why the old Paj , I can think of many vehicles I'd rather fit that combo into.
