I should say too that my mechanics said they had seen this in the past - TD5's returning pages of the same faults over and over. I perhaps should have pushed them. They didn't seem to know what caused it.
Hey I just want to thank you for this. I really appreciate it.
I've had a think about it and everything is pointing me to getting the new ECU flashed so I've arranged for a Davis reflash. The only reason I didn't do it originally was because I was keeping it standard in case I needed it for warranty. That ship has sailed.
1. ECU failing. ---> Get the new one flashed and use that.
2. It may be the wrong ecu for the vehicle. ---> Get the new one flashed and use that.
3. The wrong tune ---> Get the new one flashed and use that.
That does not preclude me from trying to fix the old one. As it's still it's perfectly serviceable and is good as an emergency spare. (I just would like to be able to read the actual faults the ECU has instead of the chaff)
So I have a gen one nanocom which is senile. I've just checked the manual and I can't see anywhere that it brings back that data on the screen and I've never seen it. I'm pretty confident that TD5 spy doesn't either from my checks the other day. I will ask the mechanic if they can tell me what ecu revision and map the current one is.
On the weekend I'll have a tinker.

2005 Defender 110
Ok I did find some more info in TD5SPY.
The problem ECU
Map svrnp005
Fuel svlne007
Homologation 4189
The factory ECU after the remap
Map svtnp006
Fule Alive ST3
Homologation 5A690
I can confirm that with the new exhaust, boost increase and the map on the factory ECU it's quite a different car to drive. This ECU does not bring back faults. Completely blank!

I would also 2nd that its very likely that the software is wrong for the application, BUT, if defender software is used on discovery and vice versa then the temp guage is incorrect also unless changes in the software are carried out correctly.
The problem ecu you have svtnp005-svlne007 "should" be in a NNN000120 ecu and is for a Defender 90 manual, EU market.
Also your factory ecu looks very likely to have an Alive tuning remap, its a small world as im actually due to go to alive to carry out some electrical work on their 90 tomorrow.
