D1 ignition problem?

you sure you havent got his keys and viceversa.....? :eek:


you could also try spraying the lockbarrel with wd40 using the plastic tube to actually get some in the barrel.....
then if it frees up......blow the wd40 out with an air blower.....and put some graphite powder in there.....

but as was mentioned above.......most times its the two shearhead bolts that come loose......
to fix this you should be able to remove the two bolts by hand using some patience.....
wiggle the barrel a bit as you do this to free up the bolts and allow them to turn.....
then you simply cut a slot in the head with a hacksaw and refit them using a flatblade screwdriver......
if they already have a slot in them.....they have been out before.......

I was told by Locksmiths to NEVER use WD40 in locks....it collects dirt and ends up wrecking them!......they told me to clean out using Electronics Spray Cleaner and then, better than graphite, for car locks they reckon, is Silicone Dry Spray Lube;)

thats true.....but the dirt is already in there.....everyone has wd40 at home......and you need to flush out the barrel......
give it a go.....get it working......then take the locksmiths advice......

when you put the key in the lock......does the whole lot feel loose on the steering column....?
does the cowling move as well......?

That's true - it's just I always have the others ALWAYS at home/in car too....both just as often used by me as the WD40......like they say: try it - you'll like:)
