    Regarding getting the barrel out of the switch, the locksmith had a look and said there is probably some kind of retainer within the switch (where the hole is) that would have to be popped or drilled to remove the barrel.

    Not too bad. In the mid 90's it cost me ~$25 for a barrel cut to the key and ~$20 for a key cut to a code.

    Thought I just saw a site selling sets of 3 replacement barrels keyed alike for under $40 so your door locks and ignition are keyed the same - mine are different on my series 3.
