Check Your DII V8 Engine Mounts

The DII made a creaking sound for ages and I thought it was a dry suspension bush.... but NO. Engine mount is slowly cracking along the joint between the rubber and metal.

Put it in gear with hand brake on and get a strong friend to rock it violently while you watch with a torch. Cracks MAY appear. Also works as a bonding experience with strong friend. Make sure she's pretty!

Yes you are probably wise, new ones are not that expensive.

The avatar - yes it's a picture of my S1 Disco in the wreckers yard - after I had rolled it off a bridge and into the (fortunately) shallow river below.

I've gone through two engine mounts (always passenger side) and even a gearbox mount.

Too much right foot and "air" underneath the tyres in offroad conditions...

If that's the case, then I can't understand how Mick (cal415) has broken one .

You haven't seen the General Lee painted on top of Cal415's disco?

No - I can never see the roof as there's too much air under the car nowadays.
I'll have to check the doors on Saturday. Has he welded them shut ?
