TD5 Clutch - How Long does she go for ?

200k km+ from a clutch should be easy I still have the original clutch from dads 500k Miles series 2 as a spare for mine, ITs worn to the point where on one face you can only just make out the groves in the friction surface and dads pretty sure it wasnt slipping when we replaced it. It was replaced as a precaution when the gear box sacraficed itself to save the cluth plate.

I've done 175k and its just like new

I was told 6 hours of labour, plus 400$ for the clutch.

So look around a thousand dollars from my quick investigations!

mine is in the same boat :D :D

but i've done 160.000k's

I think its partly luck of the draw and individual driving styles. Mine is 150k and still fine...mines a 2001 disco.

I agree and mine is similar - 148K '99 D2 with slight clutch wear - although whilst I am changing a $2 spiggot seal/bearing thingy, and the underside of the car is in bits, for the labour involved do you think it makes sense to fit a new clutch? Same as if you have the diff appart for what ever reason you may as well at least consider throwing in a locker:eek:

If it was mine, I would put a new clutch in. Big bugger of a job to do twice when you can get away with doing it once, particularly if you are paying someone else to do the labour...:eek:
