    Whats the cost of the penrite 10 as I have had nothing to do with penrite before.

    if its any consolation......i only use penrite in my cars.......
    one is a falcon (wifes car) and lurch is a td5......


    but for whats it worth as long as you use the same oil and change it regularly you should be fine.....
    its more important how often you change the oil rather than which oil you use......

    Hi DEFENDERZOOK
    My service plans are like this between 5000-7500 (depends on useage)change filter every second change.
    I wanted to know what everyone was using and not to use as a matter of interest.

    thats very hard to answer......i will tell you i love and only use penrite......
    dont go near castrol.....


    others will tell you penrite is crap and castrol is the best thing ever invented.....(after sex that is....)
    and so on......



    but if you manage to change your oil every 5,000kms it should be sweet.....

    Wow second best to sex....i thought that was fishing..

    will look at oil in a new light now!

    So far we have penrite and one for mobile 1

    so whats the price of penrite 10 for example as I have had nothing to do with it in the past.

    no idea......just wait till supercrap have one of their specials on and stock up.....

    if you want cheap oil.....valvoline is one of the cheapest oils.....but apparently it produces too much sludge.....


    the oil i use for lurch is penrite HPR diesel 5.....this is now around $80 for 10ltrs.....drops $10 when supercrap has a sale on......
    does not come in smaller drums either.....

    hpr diesel for example is around the $60 mark for the same quantity.....but thats a 20 grade oil....too thick for lurch......

    like i said.....just find an oil you are happy with and stick to it......
    if you use the cheapest oil you can find and change it even more regularly than every 5,000kms
    it should work ok.....
    i just prefer better quality.....

    i better add that it needs to meet the manufacturers requirements.....


    (which means you cant use cooking oil.......(unless you have a diesel...then you can put it in the tank instead....))

    Still trying to get the oil second best to sex thing out of my head.

    Will wait until supercrap have a sale and stock up on penrite. unless someone here tells me about an oil which is better than sex and i would have to give it a go.

    Also the copper washer thats with the sump plug, do you reuse it or buy new ones everytime?

    ok...the sump plug washer.....
    it should be replaced every time the sump plug is removed.....
    the emphasis is on the "should".....



    in reality...it never happens unless the washer has been used that many times there is nothing left of it.....










    now...what i do is....i use a bit of thread tape on the first half of the sump plug threads.....
    this is the threads closest to the head of the bolt...you dont want the stuff to get into the sump and through the
    oil pump and/or oil galleries.......
    thread tape will seal the thread of the bolt and wont rely on the washer.....
    but still leave the washer there.....also if yours is a V8.....it probably has the really soft collapsible washer......
    these dont last as long as the more solid ones....(obviously) so you will need to replace it every now and then....
    you will know when its time to replace it when it is all squished out and oval shaped and you know that there
    is no way it will ever seal......
