Dunno about a 200 Fender but on a 300TDi Disco there is no drain plug you need to take off the bottom hose.
Hey, guys I'm trying to change my coolant fluid for the first time in my D90 200TDI without the aid of a mechanic. Where is the drain plug????

Aye, 200tdi you'll need to take off the bottom hose. There's no drain plug.

Also recommend that you remove the thermostat housing plug to assist in draining and bleeding when re-filingOriginally Posted by Defender200Tdi
ahh...the old coolant flush......
turn on your heater......then remove one of the heater hoses and stick your garden hose in the heater hose and let the
clean water flush all the old coolant out......
when you have clean water coming out.....
remove the radiator cap and plug the heater pipe (where you pulled the heater hose off from)....
you can simply just hold your finger on it.....the water will start to come out from the header tank......
keep the water running till it all comes out clean.....
now all you need to do is drain enough water to fit the coolant in.....
ie...if you need to use 2 litres of coolant concentrate....
you need to drain out at least 2 or more litres of water to make room for it.....
once refilled....run the engine up to normal operating temp with the heater still on......
when the thermostat opens and the coolant starts to flow it will....
or should....help pump out any air that may still be in the system.....
top it up and check it again when its cold......
its also wise to check it for the next two mornings to give any air time to bleed out.....
all up....the first time you do this could take around 30-45 mins....this includes bleeding the system at the end.....
Except there isn't one on a 200tdi Defender.Originally Posted by ladas

DEFENDERZOOK thanks for the detailed instructions, that's awesome. The only problem is that I do not have a heater, it was removed by the previous owner. Any changes to your instructions?
Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Coolant concentrate should only be mixed with distilled, demineralised or, at worst, rain water. The average tapwater I have dealt with is full of salts, etc, which are very bad for any alloy components that they contact.Originally Posted by DEFENDERZOOK
use bottled water....its availabe in 5 litre containers......i might do the same on mine.....
good idea bigjon......or i might just leave a bucket out overnight......![]()
and as for the diconnected heater.....dont bother turning on your heater....![]()
even if it has been disconnected/bypassed.....the hoses should still be there....they just wont run to the heater matrix.....
or you can use one of the radiator hoses.....
i normaly use whichever hose is easiest to get to......
The world we live in today...I shudder at what could be in Rainwater..Originally Posted by DEFENDERZOOK
