you should try pulling the head off a series 3 jaguar.......
the weight of the car pushing down on a block of wood sitting on a jack and pushing up under the manifold.....
and a contract with wd40....and still need crowbars and hammers to free up the head.....
which only comes off after you gain enough gap to fit a hacksaw blade in to cut the head bolts...!!
must use corrosion inhibitor........
was it your bearings or something else.....?
the swivel hub bearings can collapse as well.....

Must be my imagination, but when I find my metre long spirit level (wonder where that's gone, kids?) I'll do what was Rick said and see if my eyes are deceiving me or not....

Camber: Having used the spirit level lined up to be equdistant from the rim top and bottom, the bubble is not in the middle. On both sides of the Disco, the bubble error is the same, so at least I have equal camber. My eyes are right.

Heads, when I was having trouble with this, a couple of experts told of stories where haeds had been cut off blocks - which really enthused me - not. On the X1/9 five bolts pass thru the head and screw into the block...on one side...
On the other side five studs stick up from the block and pass thru the head and are attached by nuts - I wonder if there is a reason other than it being Italian - two of the studs came out entirely when I undid the attached nut.
After a week of trying - a true mongrel job, but the head gasket came off in one piece.

A friend of mine used to have a flat head Ford V8 with alloy heads (1934 model - he had it when we were at Uni; went like a rocket, but stopping was another story - Ford retained mechanical brakes until after WW2). He claims to have driven round for a week with no nuts on the head bolts..... Possibly a slight exaggeration!Quote:
