Child Restraints in Defenders

Australia has some of the most stringent seat belt & child restraint laws in the world.

The bar (and they change over time) is to secure a child seat to. Its apparently because there are no anchor points in a defender for child seats and to secure one to the rear floor over the back seat, places stress' on the seat that it was not designed to take, possible collapsing it and allowing the child seat to move forward in an accident.

I agree with Dawg about the kiddies and offroading, the two don't mix, yes I take mine out, but as some of you have seen when the going gets too rough the kiddies get out and walk with the missus.

No offence intended, but I disagree. I'm the same as Bushie - all of my kids have been doing it since they where born - literally. They have been to some of the best spots in the world (in my opinion) and to all of it safely in my mind. I wouldn't do competition work with them in the vehicle, but sure as hell have no problem taking them out for a day run or for extended tours to the Simpson etc.

Besides - they have the time of their lives. You'll never ever find any of my kids sitting around bored with a playstation etc. They are the most outdoor kids that I know - and something I'm very proud of.

I think it's down to people's personal preference - is that diplomatic enough!!! ;)
