    Worrying Judder....

During a trip up the coast this weekend (all tarmac, no fun stuff!) I noticed on a couple of occasions a judder coming off the automatic transmission when shifting up a gear. Most noticeable once when pulling off from stationery (shifting 1st to 2nd) and the next time when under full throttle, at around 5500rpm when it shifted from 1st to 2nd again.

Any ideas? Anything I should check? Is this normal or does it bode of problems to come? Got myself a 2003 Disco V8...

    Cheers!

    Greg

Thanks Stevo. I'll check for loose engine mounts first, as I have noticed an increase in cabin vibration when the engine is idling as well....

check the oil... if its burnt its an easy fix, change the oil
IVe always considered the oil in an auto to be a sacraficial anode.

if its burnt your starting to get clutch pack/brake pack slippage choose your terminology. by changing it you will restore, at least temporarily the functionality of the packs.

If its got little bits of black particals in it your getting the precursor to pad seperation.

The earlier you do it the better off you will be... but be warned the more often you rely on changing the oil to cure the packs the more frequently you will be doing it.

Ive found it will work two or three times then its time to pull the tranny and repair. of course the sooner you get the packs serviced the better.
