They will fit, do not fit them, the series rim does not have the weight bearing of the defender or 110 rim, a LWB series rover weighs in at 1.9ish tons fully loaded and a 110 or defender at 2.7
If you have the Mil ones the give away is the raised ridge that supports the wheel nuts, the series rim is essentially a flat piece with small circular raises around the stud holes where as the defender/110 rim has a singe large ring that links all 5 stud holes. Im not sure of the difference for civvie ones
I can provide pics of em if its any good for ya

G'day Roadkill
There are 3 types and sizes of rims that fit the Series Vehicles, they usually have the Part No's stamped between the stud holes,
2/2a SWB=239601= 5.0 inch wide, 2/2a LWB=272309= 5.5 inch wide, the Series 3 had a pressed ring joining the stud holes, they also had a larger size wheel stud, it was also longer, the Australian ROH wheel for the later series vehicles was AYG-8108 and was 6.0 inch wide
I don't think that the Defender's unladen weight would be 2.7 t but it's GVM could well be
It depends. They will fit! But SWB wheels are more lightly built (thinner metal) than LWB and are unsuitable for the 110, as are Disco 1 wheels due to inadequate load rating. SWB wheels are normally 5" width and LWB 5.5" but as Uncle Ho has pointed out, there are some late LWB S3s fitted with 6" wheels, although the standard wheels fitted to pre-Defender 110s in Australia are 5.5". There were a lot more than three types and sizes of wheel fitted to Series vehicles (for example the 15" wheel fitted to the Game and split rims optional at least as late as S2), but the above discussion covers the vast majority of them.
The ONLY difference between the (standard) wheels fitted to the pre-Defender 110 and LWB Series 2,2a and most 3 is that the offset is greater on the 110. The change in wheel stud (from 5/16BSF to 16mm) mentioned by Uncle Ho was at late S2a time, and there is no change in wheel type listed with them. The Australian made wheel with the continuous rib joining the stud holes was only fitted to the late S3 but can be fitted to any Series, although the 5/16 studs are a bit short for them.
None of the above applies to the 130 - none of the Series or 90/110 wheels are strong enough for them. (ignoring forward control ones)
To summarise - they will fit, and if they are from an LWB Series Landrover they are strong enough - but your offset will be less, and you will have to adjust the steering stops to increase turning circle.

I have the last mentioned on my Stage 1, but I'm sure those and all steels up to Defender models before alloys were 5.5 inch, which made them unsuitable for 235/85 tyres.Originally Posted by UncleHo

Yes - just went out and checked the S3 wheels I have with the full circle rib - AYG-8038 and ROH Australia stamped on the disc, but AYG-3318 on the inside of the well, and they are both stamped and measure 5.5"Originally Posted by numpty

I thought that 235/85R16 would fit on the standard series wheels, as tehy are only a little wider than the standard 750x16?
