I've got a problem with my passinger door locks front and rear, they won't unlock with the remote I have to do them manually. Is this an easy fix or a big job.

When you use the remote can you hear any noise from the doors in question ?Originally Posted by tc
I take it the other doors unlock okay. ?
Unusual for two to go at the same time.
If there is a noise when you use the remote they may have become dislodge/disconnected from door mechanism - if there is no noise that means you either have an electrical fault - or the actuators for those doors are faulty.
It could just be loose connections.
I'll have a peek at the wiring diagram and get back to you with a bit more info.
SORRY.....I DIDN'T READ THE Q PROPERLYOriginally Posted by byron
It's probably a bad connection in wiring to locks from the master control relay to passenger side of car......just check all the connections from relay down to locks
The circuit is pretty basic, which is good.
If you unlock the drivers door with the key, not the remote do the two passenger doors unlock then ?
As you have said the drivers side doors opperate - then the chance it being the remote battery is not an option as the remote operates from a central control - so if the battery was duff then none of the doors would work.
First check the fuse in the satellite fuse box No. 2 - fuse number F4.
If that is okay then my suspision is that the actuators are either faulty or have dirty/poor connection.
Removal of the actuators is pretty straight forward - and you can test them out of the vehicle with a 12v supply or a test meter.
First thing I did when I bought my Disco was to replace the passenger's side rear door central locking motor.
You could see mine wanting to unlock but couldn't. It would lock though.
A new motor is under $10 from Jaycar.
This might be your problem too. I hear it is quite common.

I had the same problem. If you ease off the inside door trim on the lock side, you will see a 3 or 4mm rod running up to your door lock. Get a pair of square nosed pliers, grip it and give it a twist , effectively putting a crank in the rod and shortening it. This is what fixed my problem .
Somewhere on here I read a similar post and someone suggested getting out the lube (WD40 or similar) and spray in to all the latch/lock areas you can liberally!
I did this on mine and it fixed an annoying habbit of the rear drivers side door sometimes locking/unlocking but not always
Could be worth a shot and save's taking trim off if it fixes it

these allow adjustment to get the actuator to work in both directions.....
the actuators used to play up quite a bit....they would work both ways when you unhooked them.....
and only work in one direction when you fitted them back again.....
problem was they had no torque in one direction...even though it looked like it was working.....
if you held the bit that moves in and out and worked the central locking.....you could easily diagnose this......
totally agree zookOriginally Posted by DEFENDERZOOK
