i second the noisy part, and i think they need a bit of heat in them before they work nicely !!Quote:

but you shouldnt have to.....especially as you pay top dollar for what is supposed to be the best.....
you can chamfer the leading edge of each pad......
then cut a groove in the pad from top to bottom......
then de-glaze them by rubbing them (friction side down) on some concrete....footpath is good for this....
fit the anti-squeal shims....and make sure they are the correct way around.....
and if you really want to get fancy......you can put the lead from a lead pencil in the groove you just cut....
just fitted a set of bendix 4wd pads to the front, backs get the treatment tomorrow.
couldnt find anyone with stock of the other brand mentioned.
had 2 goes at getting the right ones as the bendix fitment guide had the wrong pads listed for the 95 disco.
ended up getting the pads for $60 front and same for the rears...
I'm gonna differ a little. Improving the brakes on it will always be a great idea. But I've always had a rule of thumb that any trailer that I own over 750kg I fit some sort of brakes too. Yeah electric are the best, but even a simple drum arrangement would help.
As for the rotors - DBA do have some good gear. And I will second the suggestion of not using Bendix. They have gone to crap of late. But the hacksaw blade trick does work and can be beneficial if you don't have much money.

not sure about other states......
the trailer is braked.... not electrics, just cable and discs, as for electrics, they can have some serious problems as well as some really good points offroad...Quote:

fitted bendix db1176/4wd to the front and db843/4wd to the rear.
shouted it a new billy damper while i was at it....
now it just has to go and get some frontend and my long standing drivetrain vibration looked at MR next week and it should be ready for a run out to goodar in early november.
So,,, has the RR bitten the dust??:(
for the moment...
still on the lookout...
it would have to be maroon, dark blue or black, with leather, less than 150k on it, and cheapish :P
dont think I've ever seen a black one:eek:
