D3 owners: where did you mount your UHF CB?

    Hi Folks,
Delivery date is drawing near and I need to plan where the best place to mount my CB. I did not want to mount it in the cubicle where the sat-nav screen is optionally installed - as I wanted to fit an after market one there - like VDO-Dayton.

Antenna will be on the bullbar. Unit will probably be a GME TX3400 or TX4400.

    TIA.

I've got a Uniden remote head type and have mounted the head in the Sat Nav "hole" and the main unit is located under the drivers side where I manufactured a bracket to fit two existing bolts and to which I was able to fit the UHF cradle.
Its all out of the way and quite neat.
If you want I could take pictures on the weekend

Thanks Richard - photos would be great!

Tell me - is the Sat Nav hole 2 DIN high? Just wondering... if so, I might be able to get a 1 DIN Sat Nav with pop-up screens to fit in there - as well as the 1 DIN UHF CB.

    Cheers,
    Rob

You lived in Bangor, NSW? Depending on how long ago:
    1) All the chook farms have gone
    2) There are houses everywhere
    3) The Woronora Bridge has bypassed all the bends
    4) The Bangor bypass has cut out the bulk of the traffic through Bangor

If Bangor, Wales - well, my surname is Jones and I live in Bangor - that is as close I am getting! I did hear they were going to stage the "Jones, Jones, Jones and Jones Show" in Cardiff. You can only attend if your surname is Jones - they are trying for a Guiness Book record. Funny stuff.

    Cheers,
    Rob

the size of the unit.....1 din is the standard size of a normal stereo....
some cars have stereos which are double the size....2 din.....

this was to try and prevent theft as no one wanted the large stereos in their cars.....

    did that make any sense....?

DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung eV

The German equivalent of Australian Standards - they've set a lot of standards on electronics, e.g., the ubiquitous DIN plug.
