    Questions for all.

Hi all, can any one tell me if premium unleaded fuel gives you better economy, for a LR Disco 3.9 V8,

Q2- What advantages headers and bigger exaughst are?
Q3- does any one with a v8 disco have a rough idle prob?
    Q3- will a Disco S2 bullbar fit a Disco S1?

    Thankyou March.

Q1, No not really, but if towing and running a bit of spark advance, like say 9 to 10 deg, yes I would use PULP. These engines are low compression.
Q2, Again, unless you are working the old girl hard, then they will help. For
normal use, don't waste your $$$

Q3, depends if your rough idle is actually a miss, or a stalling problem, some
    more info would help.

    Q4, Yes, it will fit.

The Disco2 bullbar will fit the chassis rails on the D1, but will it fit the front body trim? I know thats the reason the D2 bar wont fit the D2a.
    Cheers

    Thanks Just,
She will be working hard because i toe a trailer and a couple ob bikes to Nsw now and then, and as for the idle, it's more of a miss but it does not stall, well almost not!!!
    Thanks March.

Sorry March, Simon is right, the body trim isn't a good fit, but will fit up and look reasonable.

I've fitted a D2 winch bar onto a D1, and looked OK, but the alignment with the side of the front wheel arches wasn't close. Nothing hit or anything, but it didn't look right if you get my drift.

SImon, Any word from that mad Scot recently???(Cal)

    1. Yes, you can achieve better economy with PULP but the best result is with the 98 RON high density fuels. If you're heavy with the right foot though you won't make any savings.

    2. Yes, a freer flowing exhaust works wonders in both responsiveness and does help economy to the tune of a couple of L/100km as well as sounding much nicer. Most gains are to be had through the back 1/2 of the system from the main muffler back.

    3 & 4 I'll defer to the others.

if you know how many litres/100 kms you are doing now......
fill the next three or four tanks on pulp and see if it makes any difference.....
one tank wont be enough to tell......

also...different brands of fuel will make a difference as well....they use different additives.......

    Thankyou March.
I think I get better fuel economy and better acceleration by resetting initial timing to 12 BTDC and using BP Ultimate 98 RON [1st choice] or other 98 RON fuels.....but mileage drops if using 98 RON CSR "Green " gasoline/alcohol 10%blend.....octane rating is 98 ....BUT amount of energy [kilojoules] is less!

Someone told me once not to bother running PULP in those engines because it ran too hot and can cause problems with the values, i.e cause sticky values etc !!

I'm no engine expert so doesn't make much sense to me !!
