door lock barrel removal for defender/county

Who knows how to remove a lock barrel from a car door? Someone was nice enough to use a screwdriver on my lock so I can't unlock it anymore. Can open the door and with a bit more work could remove the entire assembly but can't see how to remove the barrel from the rest of the assembly

the barrel is usually held in place with a horseshoe clip......
    or a 'E' clip......

to get to it all.....you need to remove the door trim to get to it.....
and if you want to pull the barrel from the lock......you need to have the key in it to hold back the tumblers.....
not that easy when its all damaged......

Bugger. Have removed the rear part and can see 2 ball bearings inside (or that's what they look like). Problem now is trying to hold all the tumblers back

1- Use battery driver/drill to screw a stainless or high tensile self tapping screw into lock barrel.

2-Chuck screw head in a slide hammer.

3- Pull lock barrel and screw from the lock.

This was a once popular method of car theft.
