Yes, it is annoying. My P38A does the same thing when it would have been so easy to program the BECM to turn the washers on first.
I assume the one-way valve in the washer line is working OK and not allowing the water to run back to the bottle.

i just want to be able to squirt the water when i want....and wipe the glass when i want.....
not when lurch wants......
there are lots of times i just want the washers to work only.....then just one wipe.....
then one a few seconds later for those last drips......
i dont need lurch to do all my thinking for me......let me rephrase that.....
i dont WANT lurch to do all my thinking for me.......

The problem with that circuit is that it backfeeds 12v to the BCU which may not be desirable.
I suggest you need to isolate the line to BCU when the push button is depressed.

I think we're saying in this world of microprocessors and ECU its not quite that easy, unfotunately :( . ie its all the thinking is done inside in the magic box, only one wire comes out of the box to the wipers and if you cut that you have no wipers at all.Quote:

The wipers are triggered through a LGB (light green / black trace, but I'm sure you knew that) from connector C0287 that goes to the wiper delay ECU.
According to GTR, connector C0287 is behind the centre of the fascia & appears to be purple in colour.
It has 20 terminals, 19 of which are used. The wires at the connector are coloured B, LGB, PN, P, NU - a few of each.
3 wires are LGB in terminals 7, 8 & 9. It's terminal 9 that needs to be disconnected.
The other 2 LGB wires come from the washer switch & to the washer pump.
PM me your email address & I'll send the info over. You can follow the wiring diagram yourself. I can't see disconnecting terminal 9 causing a problem as it's pretty straight forward.
