heres a question for the electronics wizards......
when i press the button for the windscreen washers....the wipers automatically come on for 5 sweeps......
this is just what you need when the glass is covered with sand and mud etc....
before the water has had a chance to reach the washerjets...the wipers are busy sanding away at the glass.....
does anyone know how to stop the automatic wipers......?
i would like to be in control of when the wipers come on......
is there something simple like a green wire i can cut to stop this......?
ideas......anyone.....?

130's rule
Only by looking at the wiring diagrams to see if that function is controlled by a microproccessor or timer relays. If its relays you have a better chance to rewire it.
The only option if its microprocessor controlled ( and presuming there is no testbook option to change the timer ) and it REALLY bugs you would be to just put a "kill" switch in the wiper active power lead and turn off wipers manually.
Or this might be a new product idea for drivesafe ........![]()

i'm guessing this is an adr rule as i think when you operate the washer on all newish cars the wiper will sweep 5 times, my falcon does it as well.
My td5 110 swipes 3 times not 5 ... interesting (2001)
Easy fix would be to run a seperate supply to the pump via a fuse and a toggle switch - then you could just run the pump totally indipendent of the main control.Originally Posted by DEFENDERZOOK

That's lateral thinking ....... squirt then manually operate the wipers.Originally Posted by ladas

Don't go in there Zook, I have, and there's a heap of strange cross wiring, which is truly bizarre....
For a while I had a curious problem, where if I pulled the washer wand for a one only pass of the wipers, this also made the hi beam activate...
the leg bone's connected to the thighbone etc.....
cheers, GQ
could try and re-route the washer tube to run along the wiper blade itself, then when you hit the button, water comes out at the same time as the blades start to move, all in the same place, i have a van that does this really well, best system i've seen..
I think from memory the washer/wiper function is controlled by the BCU, it is similar to the Disco2 & u can turn it off, I have with mine. I havent had much of a chance to play with a 03my Def in the w/shop to see if this is a switchable function. When i return from holidays i will have a look..(sorry for the delay)Cheers
