Maybe another poll should be run on this how many ex V8 guys have gone the diesel way

yes i have and after owning several V8,s and petrols in the past i was scared about the change to diesel (hey who likes change)

anyway after owning the defender for 9 months now im converted to diesel and would,nt go back to petrol

the choice is yours ask as much info as you can there is plenty of 1 sided (petrol) people on here so strain all the info you get

you should be able to tell who the 1 sided {petrol} ones are im not going to mention names

they very proud of it and there are plenty of one sided diesel owners as well

Well here is my two bob's worth. The Holley 350 is a general purpose carb. Can be fitted and jetted to almost anything over two litres up to say four and a bit. The Holley 500 is a performance carb. Don't expect good fuel economy. The four barrel Holleys are popular with the hot rod and drag racing set because the jet blocks are easily accessed so changes can be made quickly and easily. A Rochester Quadrajet is a very, very, good carb, complex, but once set rarely needs attention. It is, in fact, better not fiddled with. Get one from a 253 Holden and should be a bolt up fit if you have an appropriate manifold which should be available from speed shops.
