Also consider the Cooper ATR - I had these fitted by Widetread and are very happy with them so far.
Consider going for a slightly bigger size - IMHO the 235/70 is too small for a Disco. ( even though that's the OE spec ). 245/75 suits better and gives a bit more clearance.

That problem is with the STT only AFAIK.

You should consider the Cooper ATR tyre - I had these fitted by Widetread and are quite happy with them so far. Nice ride and very quiet.

My question is...can anyone back these claims up?
I agree completely on the 694s - when they get half worn they no longer have side water channelling, so the water stays in the tread - they are scary.

A mate with an f-truck used to get 70-80k km from a set of BFG ATs, but he rotated his tyres meticulously.

I have Cooper ht's 235/70/16 on my disco, not my choice but they were almost new when i got the disco 4 months ago. I find them great on road, very quiet and have good grip time will tell how long they last, 245/75/16's would be my size choice if buying now.

OK I have A/T 694's on my D2 and with 40,000K you could say they look to be half worn. I have to say in the wet they are fineand have found they hang on well. However maybe this will change in another 10,000K I will keep all posted what this tyre is like coming into the later part of it's life. That said no complaints about it yet.

Can someone please educate me a bit won't a 245/75 tyre on a 16" rim as apposed to the standard 245/70 put the speedo out wack.

Not by much. Only a 3.2% increase in circumference, which if anything will only make the speedo read more accurately. (in case you didn't know - the difference in profile is 5% of 245mm, or 12.25mm)

I went from 32" diameter tyres to 33" on my 110, and the speedo went from under-reading to being almost spot on.

And AK, he was talking about 235/70 as opposed to 245/75 - different width's. If i put 245/75's on then the speedo should read corret as i am about 5-6k's out at a 100kph - speedo says 100 but gps says 94-95.

I agree. I've had Cooper S/T 4 times now and got over 80000 each time, with lots of off-road. Very happy with them.

How do you find performance (esp torque) with the bigger tyres? I've been considering the 245/75 for mine as I've got 235/70 now. The Tdi is underpowered as it is. I like the idea of the light truck construction as well (I'm always worried about sidewall damage on the passenger construction style).
