Now that Ive read your tag line i have a couple of dumb questions..

    1. lpg conversion or no?

    2. has the engine ever been overheated or run for prolonged periods on crap oil.

    3. has it ever been seriously forded or had signs of water contamination in the oil?

kiwi steve, i have a 95 disco auto with sticky valves i dont know what the product is called but i know it is sucked up through the vacume hose. i had the process done at graham coppers and it worked very well. it was also suggested that when driving around town to leave the auto in third as the extra revs will help prevent the valves from gummed up again. its worth a try as reco of the heads is about $2300 unless you do the work yourself.

The water sujestion is not a bad idea. I had it on an old Datsun 240K. Had an extra injector in the carby for the water. It ran smoother and cooler with the water. It was also able to handle more vroom.
After killing the car we opened the motor and it was very clean inside. Basicly steam cleans as you drive.

Kiwi Steve, a product called Sea Foam from the USA can be used to "De-coke the heads, in the case of Sea Foam you put one can in the fuel and one in the oil and drive it for a few days and the third can goes into a vacuum source downstream of the Air Flow Meter, you squirt it in till engine stalls, leave for an hour, restart the engine and squirt in the rest and then take the car for a drive till the clouds of smoke disappears, heard nothing but praise, check out L/R Only Forum, a lot of Yanks use it. In Australia, Subaru (pronounced Sue-ba-roo for you Kiwis) produces a product for use in their workshops for when they want to do a head and valve decoke, brings heads ports, valves back to like new, only used as a spray in, not in fuel or oil, contact someone at Subaru, it's great for cleaning Carbs, makes them look like new, Regards Frank.

Mercury as in Mercury outboards have a de carb product, called POWER TUNE" about 20 bucks a can. It is used to decarb their outboards, squirt it in the plug holes of outboards and let it sit overnight. Should see what comes out.
Also designed to spray into inlet in carby whilst engine is running. Do it away from suburbia, the smoke that comes out of the exhaust.
Years ago I used to use a mobile mechanic, he used to trickle REDEX down the carby throat to decarb, and then add the rest to the fuel.

I wonder if these products actually work and whether they cause any other damage in the process !!
