    Radio Aerial - Classic Rangie

    Question Regarding Radio Aerials

My 88 Rangie has terrible radio reception. I bought a decent size aerial to fit on the rear tyre carrier. I checked in the book and have found the amplifier in the roof lining near the wiper motor. It doesn't appear to have a plug for an aerial lead, the coax cable comes out of the side of the unit and disappears forwards on top of the hood lining.

Does anyone know the best way to hook my aerial up?

    Cheers.

G'day just use an after market ant fit it to the pannel infront of windscreen and wire it straight to the raido and forget about the amplifier set up this will work fine or you could b like me and not have a raido and listen to the 8cyl symphany

I've mounted my aerial on the bullbar & connected it straight to the radio.

I'm sure there must be a connection in the coax somewhere if you want ed to use the original coax but I'd be tempted to run a new cable alongside the original just to make sure the coax cable is OK.

Mobile1 do, or used to an "optimum" FM antenna, with a low loss input lead.
I bought one about 5 years ago and fitted to the RH of the Plenum.

Only problem is that it doesn't retract as it a helically wound aerial, but its only about 60CM long. I put it on a swivel base and tie it to my rain gutter with a small zip tie when in the city. It will pull in FM for hundreds of K.
