I agree this "change it and see" mentality is a joke... you might as well do that it your own driveway!
I'd definitely at least be getting your original parts back as spares if they won't swap them back after finding they got it wrong.:mad:

The symptoms can be characteristic of an ignition module failing - unless i missed something I don't see that on the list of things played with to date. I would have checked that first - I had major problems with it in my discos and it even got to the point that the "mechanic" wanted to replace the ECU - I got my handbook out and worked through it and found the ignition module test voltages were all wrong - look here first - then - dissy cap, make sure you have a genuine rotor and then the dizzy pickup - my mechanic also stressed the wires inside the dizzy so they were broken inside but still touching - voltage testing showed up also.

What faults came up on the Testbook or Rovercom they used on your car?
and did the fault codes get printed up?

In theory this will tell you what would need fixing,
Go to Modern Motors in Dungog, it's not that far and they are not only the best but their not expensive at all.
I got a new front diff(only 25k on it) fitted and the front end all checked and lubed for $700 all up. All 4x4 wanted that much for an unknown mileage second hand job and more for fitting.
This is just a stab in the dark, but if it showing a O2 sensor fault on one bank only, and the car goes ok when flogged, faulty fuel injector???? or (ecu)
If one is injecting too much fuel the O2 sensor for that bank would just read rich constantly (then all hell breaks loose as the ecu just keeps trying to lean it out). I doesnt take much extra fuel for an O2 sensor to go spastic.
I might be completely wrong, but I've seen it a few times on holdens
(Also had a V6 Rodeo run very very bad, showing up 02 Sensor fault, ran new wires from 02 sensor to Ecu, fixed it. Very rare problem)
