We've had a couple of Freelanders in recently for the same thing.

One was under warranty & the owner put the repair bill through his insurance. In order to maintain warranty, the entire fuel system was replaced at a cost of over $15000.

The other was out of warranty & we just stripped & cleaned everything out. It still wasn't cheap but nowhere near the 1st car costs.

    Pics please...... (if you can)

In particular of the injector nozzles....

Im helping a mate rebuild a toymotor whose got similar symptoms hes been away for a while and his wife had the car....

We suspect that shes accidentally half filled it with ULP (its what her toymota runs on) then refilled it later with diesel..

Im hoping that youve got some obvious signs of wear in the nozzles for comparative purposes.

    Nah...

Gunna hurt was the poor bugger with the brand new D3 in the Adelaide dealership.

Let his wife take it out (2 weeks old) and she decided to be nice and fuel it up!

Plonked in a full tank of PULP, jumped in and turned the key.... Apparently it made it less than 100mtrs and BOOM....

His $80,000.00 vehicle now has a new $23,000.00 engine and a voided warranty!

    ouch !

people are obviously blind to the "Diesel fuel only" stickers.......

Have to admit I've had a double take at a few bowsers to make sure I've picked up the right nozzle.

    Now thats gotta hurt.

I feel sorry for the bloke with the D3, thats nasty, thats grounds for divorce.

I remember on the last season of The Block the two gay blokes who were doing a flat together to the 2wd hilux to get some gear and stopped to fill it up, with ULP when it was diesel, fortunately someone else at the servo pointed out their mistake, the block had toyota bring them another one,

Yeah, it can get confusing as different servos have diffrent colours on their nozzles.

I normally go to the Hi Flow truck bay because there's only diesel pumps there - can't make a mistake - much quicker too. The Disco seems to have no problem taking the Hi Flow.

Hi flow refers to the pumped delivery speed in which the fuel goes from there bowser to your tank, if the station only has one diesel tank then you are essentially getting the same fuel complete with all the nasty micro bacteria in it.

We had a Disco 3 TDV6 towed in last year just prior to Christmas that was chock full of ULP. The owner had also pumped about 60 litres of petrol into his jerrycans PRIOR to filling his fuel tank and had not noticed the smell . That vehicle went to Adelaide for repair, as we were too busy and understaffed.
