Just a word of caution: Size doesn't matter as much as the ability of the reflector to direct the light forward and the output of the bulb.

Personally I'm not a fan of LightForce but enough people have them to make me think they must be OK. As for mounts the best on the market is (IMO) the Hella Rallye 4000 and 4000 FF Compacts. Also the FF reflectors are very good and put out as good a beam as their bigger cousins.

I've got the Hella FF's on my Disco and they are very good. I've just put IPF 900XS on my Defender, seem good but I've only had them on a week.

I have seen plenty of them with yellowing lenses, it must be UV affecting the plastic. For my money, I stick with Hella. Glass lenses, not plastic.

In the matter of parabolic reflectors, size does matter. Remember your Year 12 physics. If a light source is placed at the focal point of a parabolic reflector, then the light output increases as the diameter of the reflector.
Few accessory driving lights are a full parabola, because of space considerations. They are usually foreshortened so they don't stick out too far from the front of the car, and of smaller diameter than could be, for the same reason. Hella 1503 & 1507 searchlights ( bul lights or rig lights) are parabolicand large.

My late model Falcon ute has OEM headlight lenses that go brown from UV exposure. I polish the damaged layer off with 1000 grade wet paper and finish with Repo then Silvo. Like new again.

    Brian,
Firstly it was good old 6th Form Physics way back then . You are of course correct but also it does add to what I was saying as there are a lot of lights out there that do not conform to the true parabolic lens but they're real big. Also the computer generated free form reflectors are a big improvement on using a diffuser lense to disperse the light beam.

My rig had Lightforce 240 Blitz when I bought it. I have found them to be fantastic. With the yellow are you certain it isn't the yellow covers?
They are a very expensive light though.

I can confirm that too. I've only noticed in northern Australia though so it could be the excess UV damages the lenses. You also get this on the lense/headlight protectors.

LF240 XGT's have been the best spotties I've used. These are the same as the blitz except in the mounting and breather..

Lightforce have a great reputation with warranties so i wouldn't be worried about them.

    Lightforce 240's are great lights.

And they are an optics company - many world target shooting records held by their telescopic sights (also used by militaries for sniper rifles. So I wouldn't assume that their reflectors are as poor as some other posts have implied.
