As a Trade Commissioner in 1985 in KL, I met the Nulon Commodore that had been driven from Singapore to KL with no oil.
It was still going but was very clanky. They had overheated on the causeway when a radiator hose clip had slipped while idling for a long period, and getting quite hot,seeing it had no oil. Of course having solid lifters also made quite a bit of noise.
But it was still going. I used Nulon in my cars for many years, ( especially since they gave me box when I returned to OZ!) However I cannot say I noticed any difference in engine performance or quietness.
Seeing losing all oil is pretty rare, I gave up using it, also listening to the many reports which say it is snake oil.
However teflon is a great solid lubricant , and I still use Nulon in my transfer case (BW) and axles, and I use Nulon grease everywhere appropriate.
No relationship except helping them locate a Malaysian distributor and getting a case free.

I also use Nulon grease everywhere including the swivel housings. I know there will be those who say oil is the only way to go but if you use the right grease you will be surprised at how well it works. Don't know much about their additives but I have been using the grease for a long time and their synthetic oils for 12 months with no problems.

Additives
I think the old additive argument has a lot do do with the following. If an additive increased the life of an engine, would the manufacturer of that engine endorse the additive??
I think not as there sales would more than likely drop.
Why dont the fossile fuel giants get right behind alternative fuels??

I have been using Wynns Products since the 60's when I used to do a little bit of Drag racing at Castlereagh NSW:eek: with a Side Valve Ford and never had any problems, Wynns greases are one of the only ones that I have found that don't wash off when having to do repeated water crossings,(drove school buses for 15 yrs) way back in the days of having a wet season ;) I find it the only way to quieten a Series G/box and Transfer, so that you can have a reasonable conversation:D that magic brew is "Wynns Gear oil Treatment" in a little purple and white tube, works in diffs and manual steering boxes as well as Landrover relay boxes:) they also do a brilliant diesel treatment, we used to dose the bulk fuel tanks, stopped the waxing and diesel bug.

Maybe additives exist for a reason, there's a profit to be made from the small but loyal enthusiast market.
But I don't think I'd be in a hurry to put in any of them in a new vehicle.
(if anything breaks, they can fix it!)
Nulon in the X1/9 box worked a treat.
Snake oil? I'll get a snake and squeeze it, plenty around here... Goanna oil had some amazing properties, apparently... then there's Emu Oil.. and sheep oil (lanolin), which fixes all manner of ills and even prevents rust!
Rub a sheep under your Land Rover one day...
