Nah bugger that, get a reliant robin 650 cc engine - at least you wouldn't have to worry about tyre wear

And how do you intend to bolt that to the Torque flite????, they're NOT a mopar housing, they are an AMC and different bolt pattern

If going Mopar then wouldn't a 318 fireball be a much better option? It revs higher, is cheaper to run and is a lot cheaper to buy.

The 318 and 360 were the cooking or domestic engines. The 360 is a slower revving high torque engine. All the performance versions of the Chrysler LA small block were 340's. The best? Probably the 340TA (Trans Am). Higher strength iron alloy in the block, four bolt mains, forged steel crank, the right heads, valves and rocker gear. Rev like turbines, lighter than Chev or Ford small blocks. TA's are rare but replicas can be built up with Mopar Performance parts.
For fitting in a Range Rover where you don't need a lumpy cam, or 7000rpm, I would go for a 360. Used ones are readily available from engine importers, or new ones as "crate motors" from Mopar Performance dealers.

Get the housing from a V8 Valiant or make sure the wrecker includes it with the engine. From memory, without checking the one at the Jurassic layer in the back of my shed, they are SAE No.3. Or make a simple steel or aluminium adaptor plate.

And then what will you do about the angle of the transfer case???
That's the reason for using the AMC housing, unless your going to have a Slant v8 of course! Or an adaptor plate, but its not as easy as you suggest

I have seen 2 mopar powered Rangies before a 360 and a 318 so it is possible, what mods it took to showhorn the big 360 into the little rangies engine bay is an answer I would like to know

Like all the US small block V8's, they are not bulky engines, being physically little larger than thew Buick-Olds-Rover V8, which was built at capacities from 3.5 to 5 litres and even turbocharged before Rover.

Anythings possible But everyone thinks you can bolt a mopar motor up to the RR torque flite, BUT YOU CAN'T, you either need an adaptor plate between the motor and auto or trans. and transfer, 2 mates have mopars, both 318 with LT95, ones in the middle of building a 360 and mating to a TF727 and all options have been considered(chrysler housing, where to fit adaptor etc)

Why is a 360 big, its still just a small block???

Yes, they are all the same engine family, the LA, built in 273-318-340-360 cubic inches. Like the Chev. small block 265-283-302-307-327-350-400, and Ford 221-260-289-302-351.
