Hi Angus, U remove them & place a washer or 2 on them, the threads are pretty deep & normally have loctite on as well. So can be hard to remove.
Cheers

Discovery Turning Circle
Just a note to tell you all that ten minutes work can change the poor turning circle on the 2003 model to the same as a tdi. There is a service bulletin from Land rover to all Dealers stating that the 29mm streering lock stops can be changed for 23mm stops, thus improving the turning circle 9 inches for every mm taken off the stops. The change can be done FOC by your dealer or you can buy the stops for approx £3.50. My only problem with the 03 disco was its poor lock, I had a 300tdi which I had from 18000 miles, six years later & 204000 miles I purchased a 2003 model but could not get to grip with the poor turning circle.
Technical Bulletin 0026 CDS …. ref L8867bu …. & the 23mm lock stops. (manovering in tight spaces)
Cheers Aston
I have the bulletin as a pdf file if you pm me your email I will send it on.
Didn't realise the dealers would fit them free of labour but can confirm it is definitely worth doing.
If you PM it to me i can put it up on here for everyone?
From what i gather by reading the above posts was that LR was a little conservative with the possibility of tyre scrubbing on the inner guards so the turning circle suffered as a result.
LR installed the same "stops" regardless of the wheel width taking the lowest common denominator which is the 255/55/18's.
Im one of those with 255/55/18's does that mean that im stuck with the poor turning circle, or is there still a gain to be had?
Thanks Grumpy and Scouse,,
rang Pacific LR at Maroochydore today( as I happened to be going past---) was told $20 each bolt and $70 to fit as a steering box adjustment was required.
