I measure the int. shaft end and both measure around 29mm...
I really wanted a siia box.

You may not have been duped strictly speaking - the change seems to have been just after the S2a started. There are actually more differences during S2a production than there were between S2 and S2a.Quote:

There is a number stamped on the gearbox top cover just in front of the transfer case, on the right hand side. I believe it is sometimes but not always also on the transfer case (usually they are never separated). The important bit of the number is the letter at the end. What you want is a box with the letter B or higher, preferably C or higher (B is a bit of an orphan, some parts are special to B). Early boxes had no letter at all as far as I can tell.Quote:

The intermediate shaft for an A suffix box should be 29mm, so it either has a non-original transfer case, or the original has been modified, which is quite possible. (Knowing Landrover, it is also quite possible that it was originally that way!)Quote:

On that subject, you might find it worth getting a parts book - it is useful for a lot more than ordering parts. Mine came from Four Wheel Drives in Melbourne, but they are generally available from a lot of landrover specialists, although probably not dealers.
