    Speedo Correction Thingamejigs

I'm looking to fit one of these to my 2003 Defender Xtreme.

Does anyone know whether Defenders are 2 wire or 3 wire.

Yes I looked. You guessed it, there's 2 wire eminating from the side of the t/case, and 3 wires from the back of it. No sign of a cable though, but it was dark.

I'm assuming its the same as a D2, but who knows with LandRover. Could well be different, being sans hill decent control & auto trans .

I'm tempted to pull the wires & see what happens - sod's law says a dashboard light will come up only a dealer can clear.

Anyone been down this path with a Defender?

    Regards
    Max P

Apparently there not the same Max from what i've been told.

Have a look for TRUSPEED they are the only ones specificly designed for the TD5 Landys or so i'm told, i have one for the Disco.

    Baz,

Did you get it sent from the US? I'm having trouble sourcing a Truspeed locally.

On my 98 disco I, the sensor has 2 wires. One is supply from fuse box, the second is pulses out to the speedo.

I tried both the 3-wire and 2-wire speedo correction units that Marks Adaptors sell and neither worked for me. Their web site says to use the 3 wire unit for Rovers.

It would not surprise me if Rover have changed the type of sensor as often as I have dinner. So be careful taking experience from, say a Disco II to some other model.
