The speedo on my Defender 2002 TD5 has started playing up. It's OK up to 70kph but as soon as I get to about 75kph it drops down to 20 and hovers around there. Any clues? I assume it's an electronic unit driven by a sensor somewhere, but have no idea where the sensor would be.

After a high-pressure hose-down my speedo wo'nt work for 2 days or so, and then start stuttering into life again, i assume water in the electronic "pickup" sensor thingie. GPS now takes care of the speed, but your problem could have something to do with the sensor as well. maybe a loose(ish) connection?
